First You See It, Now You Don’t
Laser treatments can be highly effective in the removal of tattoos. There are several factors that can affect the success of the laser tattoo removal, including age of the tattoo, ink color, whether or not the tattoo was done professionally, patient’s skin type and depth of tattoo. Because tattoos come in many different colors, several types of laser systems may be used to eliminate them.
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
Lasers work by producing an intense beam of bright light that travels in one direction. The laser beam can vaporize and remove tattoos and go deeper into skin tissue, as needed. The laser has the unique ability to produce one specific color (wavelength) of light, which can be varied in its intensity and pulse duration. For tattoo removal, the laser beam targets the tattoo pigment in the skin and mechanically breaks it down. The body then naturally removes the pigment and the tattoo fades.
What Happens After Treatment?
Discomfort is usually minor both during the procedure and throughout the recovery phase. Most tattoos require multiple treatments for thorough removal.
